- Drive slow, especially when crossing bridges, overpasses, and downhill
- Leave more space between you and the car ahead
- Avoid brisk braking
- Never use cruise control
- Keep a steady motion, especially when climbing slippery hills
- Stay on major roads (unlike side streets, they are plowed and salted
- Handle a skid: in any case, Do not touch the brakes. Front-wheel skid: ease off the gas, which will slow your car and regain the right traction. Rear wheel skid: steer the wheel in the direction the back of your car is moving, then steer back in the direction you want to go.
