SHIPPING YOUR BOAT

If you are planning to have your boat shipped, get ready for “a little action”. Let´s not say it is a complicated task, it is just a matter of preparation.  Here is a guide, step by step, to make the first phase of the relocating process (your part), easier for you. The rest, leave it to us, the experts.  Key words to follow:

REMOVE

  • Personal items (clothes, loose ornaments, breakables, groceries, linens, cushions, etc.)
  • Barbeque grills, safety buoys, safety harnesses, anchors from bow and sterns
  • Portable electronics
  • External accessories and everything protruding the hull
  • Radar, flag masts, dinghy, horns, anchor lights, anchors, antennas, biminis, bowsprits, dive boards
  • Fly-bridges, out-riggers and masts
  • Any flammable liquids and material (fuel tanks, cans of propane, etc.)
  • Drain plugs

SECURE

  • Any loose gear above and below deck
  • Anything that extends beyond the hull
  • Loose cables
  • Large things such as dinghy and big structures (should be well padded)
  • Fly-bridges, radar arches (should be well-padded)

TAPE

  • Interior cabinet doors shut
  • Windows, hatches and latches
  • Internal doors

DRAIN

  • Fuel, water tanks and other liquids
  • During winter, weatherize the engine and drain air conditioning unit.

DISCONNECT

  • Electricals and Electronics
  • Batteries (unplug and secure cables)

BEFORE SHIPPING

  • Lock the cabin once everything inside has been secured.
  • Take pictures from every angle to document the general condition of your boat.
  • Clean the boat hull, for there might be inspection stations along the way, searching for invasive species.

M&M VEHICLE TRANSPORT RECOMMENDATIONS

  • The cost for shipping a boat depends on its specifications. Be sure to provide our agents with accurate information: model, weight (actual weight, not tonnage), height, width and length.
  • Leave only enough fuel to get your boat to and from transport.
  • Remember there are height requirements. Learn about them to avoid inconveniences.
  • Preferable choose a marina with 14´clearance.
  • M&M VEHICLE TRANSPORT will not be responsible for damages caused by the improper preparation of your boat.
  • It is up to you to cover your boat with shrink wraps. The cover may protect your vessel from dust and debris, but it also can be ripped in case of strong winds, flapping and causing marks.

If you have any doubts, please call 877 957 4878; one of our agents will be glad to assist you.
