RURAL CAR SHIPPING

Generally speaking, a rural area is a remote place with a low population, secondary and tertiary roads, and is sparsely urbanized. In terms of shipping a vehicle, a rural area means long distances from major highways, difficult access, uneven gravel roads, and difficult mapping software (online maps).

These factors have a strong impact on prices and pick up/delivery times, increasing both because:

– Rural locations imply carrier deviation from the regular shipping routes, meaning more  fuel and time

– Unpaved gravel roads with difficult access deteriorate the carrier.

– Other cars loaded onto the carrier may be risked by the gravel roads conditions.

– In remote areas, it is difficult to find specific locations.

Suburban areas:

A suburb (suburban or suburban area) is an area outside of a principal city of a metropolitan area, primarily residential, not as densely populated as an inner-city, yet more densely populated than a rural area in the countryside. In many metropolitan areas, suburbs exist as separate residential communities within commuting distance of a city”.

Moving a vehicle to/from a suburban area is not as expensive as a rural area service, although they might represent a challenge with their narrow roads and sharp curves. We are talking here about huge carriers, difficult to maneuver, many meters long, and several tons of weight.

Depending on the distance from big cities, a suburban service is about the same price as urban shipping.

M&M VEHICLE TRANSPORT RECOMMENDATIONS:

To sum it up, rural car shipping is a more delicate and complicated process, and therefore, it will cost more and take longer.  Here are some of M&M Freight and Logistics recommendations:

  • Keep in mind that a rural vehicle shipping service will always be more expensive and will take longer times for dispatch than suburban or urban shipping processes.
  • If you have budget or time limitations, we suggest you move your vehicle to a more accessible place, like the nearest town or off a major highway to meet your carrier. This will lower costs and shorten delivery or pick-up times.
  • Something to keep in mind is that with rural car shipping services, availability is an issue, but not impossible to sort out.
