Nothing worse than an annoying passenger, especially during long trips. You may not be aware of it, but if you commit even one of the following transgressions, you deserve to be thrown out the window.
DEFINITION OF A HIDEOUS PASSENGER
This unbearable individual shows no respect for the driver´s personal space, nor for the way he drives nor the decisions he makes while driving. Let´s remember a universal truth, an inviolable rule, an unquestionable dogma:
The person behind the wheel is the Master and Commander, the Captain, the pilot; in simple terms, you, as a passenger, are just the “cargo” to be transported and therefore, you should act as such.
No matter if you are the spouse, the girlfriend, the parent, or the boss (applies for all genders), never, under any circumstances (except perhaps when your life is at stake), should you commit the following sins while in the passenger seat:
UNACCEPTABLE TRANSGRESSIONS
- Invading abusively the driver´s personal space to honk the horn (!No way!)
- Telling the driver what to do or which way to go (bite your tongue)
- Screaming and being a drama queen (Take a pill)
- Manipulating the controls (temperature, volume, etc.) (Back off!)
- Littering (put it you-know-where)
- Deciding other passengers` ubication (remember “Cargo”?)
- Putting the feet up on the dashboard (go get comfy at home)
- Smoking (smoking kills…so do I)
- Snooping in the car compartments (careful, I have a knife in there).
BEHAVE YOURSELF
As a passenger, you don´t have to act like a martyr in agony or like a prisoner on their way to the scaffold; just be as polite and considerate as possible. The fact that the driver is a relative doesn`t give you the right to be rude or abusive. A good passenger makes a great companion; a respectful traveling partner can be a valuable help on the road: ask for permission when you feel it is necessary to do so and learn to “read” the driver´s moods to know when it is wise to talk and when to be silent.
