One of the biggest concerns of those who choose to ship their vehicle is the insurance coverage in the event of damage during transit; it’s an understandable preoccupation, given what is at stake: a valuable vehicle. To know exactly what to expect and how to proceed, here´s a detailed rundown of everything related to the subject, from A to Z:
M&M VEHICLE TRANSPORT
We are a fully bonded and insured property broker; we work hand to hand with a remarkable team of professional truck drivers who meet every standard requirement in terms of capability, professionalism, and insurance coverage; each transport driver has been rigorously trained and certified and has extensive experience in handling and loading all kind of vehicles, regardless of size or type of carrier; having said that, our customers can rest assured that their vehicles are in the best hands.
As part of a reputable network, every carrier we work with has ample insurance coverage, and M&M VEHICLE TRANSPORT also provides contingency insurance coverage, so our customers are doubly protected. Furthermore, when it comes to vehicles with special requirements, we encourage our customers to take their own insurance coverage for exceptional circumstances (neither the carrier nor we cover Acts of God damages), so, in some cases, the shipping is triple protected.
¿WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF DAMAGE?
If you detect any damage when your vehicle is delivered to you:
- Check your Bill of Lading: compare the condition of the vehicle and the damage you detect with that specified prior to loading to make sure it was not there before.
- If it is not included and it is obvious that the damage occurred during transit, write it down in the same document, and have it signed by you and the carrier´s driver as well. Be sure to keep your copy.
- Document the damage by taking pictures and videos from as many angles as possible.
- You file the claim to the carrier with whom you will be dealing directly; he will handle it properly and promptly by contacting his insurance company and making all the necessary arrangements so your claim can be settled without any problems and you receive your compensation.
- You inform us of the situation and we will help you throughout the process until the damage claim is settled.
- In case of any disputes arising, we will intervene to resolve the event in a satisfactory way.
